Job Description Job Description Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented Job Cost Accountant to support the financial success of our electrical construction projects. Reporting to the Division Controller, this role is critical in ensuring accurate job costing, timely billing, and clear financial reporting. You’ll partner closely with project managers by providing real-time cost insights that help drive informed decisions and maintain project profitability. Salary $60k-$75k a year Key Responsibilities Maintain and oversee job cost accounting systems to ensure accurate and timely project cost tracking Track and analyze all project-related costs, including labor, materials, subcontractors, equipment, and overhead Collaborate with project managers on billing, schedules of values, forecasts, and variance analysis Prepare monthly job cost reconciliations and Work-in-Progress (WIP) reports Ensure costs are properly coded and aligned with approved project budgets Analyze cost trends and provide actionable recommendations for cost control and process improvement Produce customer billings, invoices, and supplier waivers as needed Complete weekly certified payroll and prevailing wage reporting Assist with month-end and year-end close activities Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies Prepare financial reports and support internal and external audits Provide general accounting support and serve as backup for weekly payroll processing Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 3 years of experience in construction or job cost accounting (electrical contracting preferred) Strong understanding of job costing, WIP reporting, and construction billing practices Experience with construction accounting software such as Viewpoint/Spectrum, Procore, GCPay, Textura, Trimble Pay, or similar Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills Highly detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Preferred Qualifications Experience working for an electrical or mechanical contractor Construction accounting certification (CCIFP) Knowledge of prevailing wage and certified payroll compliance
