For more information on the array of benefits programs, please visit Position Summary ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION: Visual Information Specialists design, produce, and finish static visual presentation products. They apply broad knowledge of design principles to communicate concepts or ideas visually. They use visual communication software to generate hardcopy, softcopy, and web products, to include geospatial information products, publications, brochures, and web pages. Additional Position Info ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION: Visual Information Specialists design, produce, and finish static visual presentation products. They apply broad knowledge of design principles to communicate concepts or ideas visually. They use visual communication software to generate hardcopy, softcopy, and web products, to include geospatial information products, publications, brochures, and web pages. Job duties may include: * Working with complex spatial and non-spatial GEOINT data
* Develop graphics for diverse audiences including DoD, senior US and foreign government officials, and the Intelligence Community (IC)
* Collaborate with analysts to identify requirements, then create and review visual communication products that accurately and effectively convey intelligence findings, and that conform to established standards
* Verify accuracy of content and provide clear, professional, and accurate feedback to authors and other visual information specialists regarding design, clarity, comprehensiveness, classification, and standards
* Work closely with other tradecraft specialties at NGA and across the IC as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Manage production workflows and coordinate with other work roles to meet deadlines with high-quality products
* Develop and maintain a breadth and depth of understanding in key visualization subject areas including graphic design, data visualization, cartography, statistics, layout, visual hierarchy, topography, color, and composition
* Cultivate a positive customer service environment

Mandatory Qualification Reqs MANDATORY QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: For this particular job, applicants must meet all competencies reflected under the Mandatory Qualification Criteria to include education (if required). * Demonstrated experience creating visualizations of numbers and statistical data using infographics (information graphics) and/or visual storytelling to communicate design ideas.
* Demonstrated experience using Adobe Creative Suite (CS) including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and/or Acrobat. EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: A. Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Commercial Arts, Graphic Arts, Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Data Visualization, Imaging and Digital Arts, or a related field. -OR- B. Combination of Education and Experience: A minimum of 24 semester (36 quarter) hours of coursework in any area listed in option A, plus experience designing, producing, and finishing visual presentation products, or a related area that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties associated with this work. As a rule, every 30 semester (45 quarter) hours of coursework is equivalent to one year of experience. Candidates should show that their combination of education and experience totals 4 years. -OR- C. Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience designing, producing, and finishing visual presentation products, or a related area that successfully demonstrates the ability to perform the duties associated with this position. Highly Desired Skills QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: In addition to the mandatory qualifications, experience in the following is desired: * Demonstrated experience with cartography, especially thematic cartography, GIS, and creating effective visualizations of spatial data with related geospatial software, such as Avenza MAPublisher and ESRI ArcGIS.
* Experience as a graphic designer or related work role for the Federal Government, specifically the Military and Intelligence Communities.
* Demonstrated experience interfacing with customers at various levels to meet their requirements.
* Demonstrated experience designing and developing intuitive, graphical user interfaces (GUI) for desktop and mobile devices.
* Demonstrated ability to prioritize and satisfy multiple requirements on time, in an environment where requirements frequently change.
* Demonstrated project management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and juggle multiple projects with short deadlines. Non-executive NGA employees are assigned to five distinct pay bands based on the type and scope of work performed. The employee's base salary is established within their assigned pay band based on their unique qualifications. Additional Job Requirements You must be able to obtain and retain a Top Secret security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information. Refusal to take the examination may result in denial of access to Top Secret information, SAP, and/or unescorted access to SCIFs.
