Job Description Job Description Job Description and Summary Job Title: Floater Status: Non-Exempt; hourly Position Summary: At Start Bright Academy our floating teachers must be able to take on responsibilities of an Assistant teacher, in the classroom that is required if needed. Floaters will provide support to the Teaching Team to ensure a safe and consistent youth development environment. Floating teachers will work in a variety of age ranges from 6 weeks to 12 years of age, no classroom assignment is permanent. As a floater, you are responsible for establishing and maintain a safe, healthy, and nurturing learning environment. Additionally, a floating teacher is responsible to work together with classroom teachers and in conjunction with the entire faculty. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Report to Director or Head Teacher upon arrival for daily assignment - Work as a team member to meet the needs of the children classroom and center as a whole - Meet the emotional, social, physical and cognitive needs of each child - When appropriate participate in open communication with parents - Maintain confidentiality - Report any suspect abuse to supervisor - Clean and arrange classroom environment in accordance to program goals and philosophy - Maintain a safe and healthy environment - Inspect and replace damaged or lost materials - Attend in-service and staff meetings - Keep all appropriate records such as attendance and time sheets. - Meet all applicable licensing regulations - Daily assignments may include coverage for other staff during breaks and planning time, clean toys and - educational materials, clean common areas such as bathrooms, kitchen, break room and outdoor play areas, - remove garbage, inventory supplies, organize art and supplies cabinets. Supervisory Responsibilities: None Education/Experience: - Must be at least 16 years of age - Must meet State of VA requirements as childcare center worker - Must be CPR/First Aid Certified or obtain certificate within the first week of employment - Formal Education in Early Childhood Education Preferred - Ongoing professional development in the field of child development required - Strong communication skills, both verbal and written - Demonstrate organizational abilities - Ability to build rapport with families and community members - Must meet physical requirements of the job including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds Job Type: Part-time Pay: $9.50 - $12.00 per hour Benefits: - 401(k) - Employee discount Schedule: - 8 hour shift - Monday to Friday Ability to commute/relocate: - Bealeton, VA 22712: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required) Experience: - Caregiving: 1 year (Preferred) - Childcare: 1 year (Preferred) License/Certification: - Driver's License (Preferred) Shift availability: - Day Shift (Preferred) Work Location: One location
