The Electronics and Sensors Division (ESD) is a world-class
engineering and scientific leader in electronics and remote sensing
systems. The Advanced Sensor Engineering Department (ASED) is a
group of engineers and scientists actively engaged in developing
the next generation of remote sensing systems of national
importance. ASED members develop and test prototype sensors, model
system performance, explore new phenomenology, and assess the
performance of Electro Optical/Infrared sensor components through
modelling and simulation.What You'll Be Doing
- Model EO/IR sensor performance for remote sensing
applications.
- Develop prototype payloads for airborne flight and cubesat
applications.
- Perform laboratory and field testing of advanced EO sensors and
other technologies, developing new testing capabilities as
necessary.
- Document and present findings to colleagues and customers
- Travel as necessary to support customer requirements (BASIC
QUALIFICATIONS* Bachelor's degree in, Electrical Engineering,
Physics, Optical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or appropriate
technical discipline from a recognized institution with at least 2
years relevant work experience.Or* Master's degree in Electrical
Engineering, Physics, Optical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering,
or appropriate technical discipline from a recognized
institutionWhat You Need to be Successful Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in in Remote
Sensing, Imaging Science, Astronomy, Physics, Mathematics,
Atmospheric Science, Computer Science, Optical or Electrical
Engineering, or another related discipline.
- At least 2 years of experience with at least one of the
following:
- Performance modelling of remote sensing EO/IR systems.
- Design and development of EO/IR remote sensing systems.
- Integration & Test of EO/IR remote sensing systems
- Strong scientific programming skills, for example Python,
Matlab, IDL, or C++.
- Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative
environment.
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a
TS/SCI security clearance, which is issued by the U.S.
government.U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security
clearance.How You Can Stand Out It would be impressive if you have
one or more of these:
- An advanced degreein Physics, Optical Engineering, Electrical
Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering, or appropriate technical
discipline from a recognized institution.
- At least 5 years of experience with at least one of the
following:
- Performance modelling of remote sensing EO/IR systems.
- Design and development of EO/IR remote sensing systems.
- Integration & Test of EO/IR remote sensing systems
- Experience with production of space qualified hardware
- Experience with CAD, machining, and 3-D printing.
