Main-mission communication satellites, wideband links, command and telemetry, and terrestrial networks, along with their enabling technologies, are the domain of the Communication Technologies and Engineering Division. The division comprises all aspects, from architectures to implementation; our engineers work directly with corporate customers to ensure robust and resilient communications.The qualifiedcandidatewill become part oftheCommunications and Signal Analysis Department (CSAD) within the Engineering and Technology Group, Communication Technologies and Engineering Division.CSAD performs analysis, modeling and simulation of end-to-end radio and optical communication systems, and signal collection/processing techniques and solutions. We also advise our customers on technical matters and advanced technology development needs. The work we do is in support of advanced concept development/prototyping, system acquisition support and anomaly resolution, primarily for specialized satellite and associated ground processing applications.Work Model: This position will be located 100% onsite in Chantilly, VAWhat You'll Be Doing

  • Conducting technical studies, including modeling and simulation, for advanced radio/optical communications, signal collection / processing and/or signal geolocation applications
  • Supporting customer communications, signal collection and/or signal geolocation mission areas, including the development and acquisition of advanced systems
  • Supporting our Civil, DoD and intelligence community customers, with primary support to the National Reconnaissance Office
  • Joining the Communications and Signal Analysis Department, and working both independently and as part of project teamsWhat You Need to be SuccessfulMinimum Requirements:
    • Master's degreefrom an accredited college/university programin Electrical Engineering or related discipline (currently pursuing or conferred within the last 12 months).
    • Coursework in the areas of communications and signal processing.
    • 0-1 year of industry work experience.
    • Willing to travel domestically infrequently or as needed.
    • This position requirestheability to obtain and maintain a securityclearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.How You Can Stand OutIt would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
      • Ph.D. degreefrom an accredited programin Electrical Engineering or related discipline (currently pursuing or conferred within the last 12 months).
      • Demonstrated expertise in radio communications, satellite communications, optical communications, and/or signal processing.
      • 2 or more years' experience using MatLab, or Python, e.g., in communication systems modeling and simulation.
      • Coursework in modulation formats and performance, coding techniques, link analysis, and/or propagation impairments.
