Aerospace's Cyber Security and Advanced Platforms Subdivision,
Cyber Assessments and Research Department (CARD) is seeking a
Senior Engineering Specialist to help design, implement, assess,
and deploy cyber solutions that defend our nation's most valuable
assets in space. We are seeking a highly motivated senior engineer
to support customers across a full spectrum cyber security
activities.
This position is a hybrid work model, and can sit partially
remotely, with some onsite work required in Chantilly, VA.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead customer projects involving one or more of the following
areas: Vulnerability Assessment, Cyber Security Architecture, Cyber
Security Prototype/Capability Development, cyber system trade-off
studies for various system designs or protocols, validation of
network system requirements.
- Lead internal research efforts in the areas listed above
- Conduct advanced cyber vulnerability assessments for current
and advanced next generation multi-domain systems
- Work closely with multiple customers to develop action plans
and mitigation strategies to address cyber threats and
vulnerabilities across a range of space, ground, and multi-domain
systems
- Research and analyze current and future space, ground and
counterspace cyber threats to develop mitigation strategies and
assessments
- Advise DoD/IC space system customers on secure design and
implementation of systems
- Provide recommendations on network architectures and solutions
based on technical performance evaluations
- Forge and foster relationships with DoD/IC and national
security space organizations to develop and deploy secure space,
ground, and multi-domain architectures
- Support the development and deployment of advanced space,
ground, and multi-domain systems by conducting cyber assessment and
threat evaluations, as well as developing cyber security solutions
appropriate to meet those threats
- Identify opportunities for expanding Aerospace service delivery
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements for Senior Cyber Security Engineer:
- Bachelors or advanced degree in Computer Science, Computer
Engineering, Cyber Security, or similar technical area of
study
- Experience managing cyber engineering aspects of a highly
dynamic portfolio of space, ground, and multi-domain systems
- 12 or more years of industry work experience focused in cyber
security
- Demonstrable proficiency in one or more programming
languages
- Proficiency in Linux and Unix based operating systems
- Knowledge and/or experience of both offensive and defensive
cyber security tools, tactics, techniques, and procedures
- In-depth knowledge of and experience collaborating with
multiple DoD, intelligence community, national security space
organizations
- In-depth experience implementing RMF, ICD 503, NISPOM, and
other governing directives to authorize and accredit multiple
space, ground and multi-domain systems
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Applications
(Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint), MS Team, MS
Project, applications such as Internet Explorer
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- In-depth experience performing vulnerability assessment and
mitigation
- Network engineering and architecture knowledge (TCP/IP, IPSEC,
HTTP/S, routing protocols)
- Willing to travel approximately 10% of the time
- This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI
security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S
citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance. How You Can

- Advanced technical degree
- Experience with space systems, including familiarity with
space, ground, and user segments, as well as legacy software
- Experience in cryptographic systems
- Experience developing and deploying cutting edge hardware,
software, and cloud-based solutions for terrestrial and space
cryptographic solutions
- Experience with configuring routers, switches and/or
firewalls
- Experience with AWS environments and AWS security services
- Familiarity with orchestration and containerization
technologies and related security considerations
- Experience with Agile methodology and team collaboration tools
