Job Description:
Position Summary:Pavion and our family of companies (CTSI, AFA,
Structure Works, Star Asset Security, et al) is seeking a Director,
Tax. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparation
of federal tax return and the consolidation of the parent company
and its subsidiaries.Primary Responsibilities:The Director leads
the preparation of numerous corporate state returns, federal and
state quarterly estimates, and computation of all federal and state
book-tax differences regarding depreciation. In this role, the
Director will work closely with the Corporate Treasurer to build
the Tax Function.Plan for and develop overall return calendar and
coordinate timing and inputs with internal and external tax team
procedures - income tax, sales/use tax, property taxMaintain
effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax
processEnsure accurate, timely filing of other business related
filingsFacilitate outsourced federal and state income tax filings,
applications for tax credits, and provisionsReview income tax
returns and quarterly/yearly tax projectionsManage and facilitate
IRS income tax audits: preparing responses, creating schedules,
etc.Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments,
communicate the effects of these developments to management and the
Group tax team and create strategies to capitalize on changes to
taxation legislationProvide support with various internal audits
and special tax related projectsFind and implement opportunities
for process improvement in company tax procedures - income tax,
sales/use tax, property taxMaintain Avalara sales and use tax
matrix and communications with end usersManage filing of sales and
use tax returns for all implicated statesManage process for
collecting and administering sales and use tax exemption
certificatesTransition responsibility for property tax from field
to tax teamManage comprehensive property tax processes (returns,
assessments, appeals, etc.)Liaise with external consulting firms on
a regular basis to keep them updated on progress, areas of risk,
and opportunities available to the Group (Group Tax will provide
support as and when needed)Basic Qualifications:Bachelor's degree8+
years of corporate tax experienceCertified Public
AccountantPreferred Qualifications:Knowledge of Avalara
PlatformM&A experienceAble to provide prior and post Tax
strategies and EIN consolidation in a very active acquisition
environmentTransfer PricingInternational TaxPrior experience
working with or for a CPA firmExcellent relationship building
skills including effective communication with internal customers
and outside partiesProven leadership experience with the ability to
develop and motivate othersExcellent planning and organizational
skills; prioritizing task assignmentsStrong project management
skills; using analytical abilities, collaboration and other methods
to resolve complex problems, and make decisions while understanding
the implications of the decisions Physical Requirements:Ability to
