We aim to bring these values to life every day with all that we do, and we believe that what we do matters - to patients, to their families, and to their communities.The opportunity:As a Senior Medical Director, Medical Affairs, you will be responsible for leading the development of Medical Affairs (MA) strategies in Ophthalmology, lead and coach the OPH MSL Team, support recruitment efforts for REGENXBIO clinical studies, and manage and support MA projects inclusive of publications, presentations, advisory boards and MA research projects ( e.g. Natural history studies, registries, and/or research collaborations).What you'll be doing:

  • Lead the OPH field medical team including field medical strategy, territory design, and coaching / mentoring MSLs for high performance.
  • Develop and implement MA strategy and plans including field medical plans to support overall corporate objectives
  • Build relationships with thought leaders, clinical investigators, and other healthcare professionals /stakeholders, including patient groups and professional organizations.
  • Provide point of contact site support as assigned and support MSL team with site escalation needs to achieve REGENXBIO clinical trial enrollment targets
  • Provide medical leadership, insight and strategy through collaborations with other internal functions and project teams (i.e. Commercial, Clinical, Operations, Regulatory, Biostatistics, Project Management, and Patient Advocacy).
  • Manage KOL advisors- develop strategy, draft scope of work, contracts, meetings, advisory boards, invoicing and payments.
  • Attend medical conferences as MA representative, assist with congress strategy, planning and logistics, medical booth and meeting summaries
  • Ensure development, and maintenance of resources for the MSL teams, including clinical and scientific communications, slide decks, educational materials, FAQs, publications, etc.
  • Lead field insights, initiatives, and competitive intelligence activities and communicate key learnings to internal stakeholders
  • Assist with publication strategy across products- abstract planning, timeline management, presentation, poster, and manuscript development.
  • Provide support for the development, review and approval of presentation materials for scientific meetings, conferences, and other publicly distributed materials.
  • Identify and implement appropriate high-impact medical research projects to support the business objectives, including company-sponsored and investigator-initiated projects
  • Maintain scientific and clinical knowledge in the specific disease area(s) and serve as key medical resources in the disease area and on specific products
  • Provide strategic input and training to the Medical Affairs organization.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.

    • Doctorate level degree required (MD, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent); 3 or more years of relevant clinical or therapeutic experience (preferred),
    • Minimum of 7 years of clinical trial or medical affairs experience in the pharmaceutical industry or academia or equivalent; 2 years MSL management experience preferred
    • Therapeutic area expertise in Ophthalmology required; Retina and/or Gene therapy experience preferred
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate people
    • Experience setting goals and leading field based medical affairs projects required
    • Superior medical writing, project management, communication, interpersonal and negotiating skills.
    • Ability to lead and manage high level projects.
    • Ability to proactively predict issues and solve problems.
    • Ability to drive decision-making within a multi-disciplinary team.
    • Diplomacy and positive influencing abilities.
    • Ability to independently manage multiple projects and vendors when necessary.
