Job Description:
MedStar Health, a leading non-profit healthcare organization in
the D.C.-Maryland-Virginia region, seeks an Emergency Services
Support Assistant to facilitate efficient operations within our
emergency departments. This role is pivotal in ensuring that all
administrative and support functions are conducted efficiently,
thereby aiding in the provision of superior patient care in
critical conditions. The successful candidate will be integral to
managing patient flow and will support medical staff by managing
records, handling communications, and coordinating emergency room
activities. Manage patient intake and data entry, ensuring accurate
and timely information is relayed to medical personnel. Coordinate
with healthcare professionals to manage emergency room traffic and
patient flow. Ensure all necessary medical supplies are stocked and
available. Handle confidential patient records with discretion and
in compliance with federal and state regulations. Assist in the
preparation and maintenance of examination rooms and treatment
areas. Support the emergency department staff in administrative
tasks such as scheduling, filing, and handling communications.
Provide compassionate support to patients and their families during
check-in and check-out. Strong organizational and multitasking
skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Proficiency
in medical software and administrative systems Ability to work
calmly and effectively in high-pressure situations Knowledge of
medical terminology and hospital environment Medical Insurance
Dental Insurance Vision Insurance CPR certification required;
additional certification as a Certified Medical Administrative
Assistant (CMAA) is a plus.
