Principal Associate, HR Business Partner - Retail Bank Are you a
strategic HR professional who thrives on driving organizational

of the business. As a Principal Associate (PA), HRBP within
C&O, specifically the Retail Bank, you will be a key advisor to
Senior Directors and their leadership teams . You will play a
pivotal role in shaping talent strategy, driving culture, and
ensuring our Branch organizations are positioned for long-term
success. This role is designed for a consultant who can connect the
dots between business goals and people solutions, leveraging a deep
network of HR specialists to drive results at scale. Core Focus &
Responsibilities Strategic Business Advisory: Serve as a primary HR
consultant to Senior Director-level leaders. Translate business
goals into actionable people strategies that drive performance,
engagement, and organizational health. Integrated HR Partnership:
Act as the primary point of integration between the business and
the broader HR ecosystem. You will partner cross-functionally with
Associate Relations, Compensation, Talent Acquisition, and People
Strategy & Analytics to deliver holistic solutions that meet
multifaceted talent and business needs. Organizational Design &
Workforce Planning: Partner with leadership to evaluate and evolve
organizational structures. You will guide workforce planning and
change management initiatives to ensure our frontline model remains
agile and effective. Leadership Coaching: Act as a trusted coach to
senior leaders, providing insights on leadership style, team
dynamics, and talent management. You will help leaders build
high-performing teams and a robust internal talent pipeline.
Data-Driven Talent Insights: Leverage people analytics to identify
trends in retention, performance, and engagement. You will move
beyond reporting to provide "storytelling" insights and
recommendations that influence business decisions. Talent
Management Orchestration: Lead high-impact HR processes including
performance cycles, talent reviews, and compensation planning. You
will ensure these processes are executed with a focus on equity,
transparency, and high performance. Proactive Issue Resolution:
Guide leaders through navigating complex behavioral and
performance-related themes. While collaborating with Associate
Relations on specific cases, you will focus on identifying the
"root cause" themes to drive long-term change at scale. Project
Leadership: Spearhead complex, cross-functional HR projects and
pilots that impact the broader Retail Bank enterprise, ensuring
consistent experience and execution across different markets. Basic
Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree or military experience. At least 3
years of experience in Human Resources OR at least 3 years of
experience in Management Consulting. At least 3 years of
client-facing consulting experience. Preferred Qualifications 5
years of experience as an HR Business Partner or in a similar
talent strategy role. Proven experience influencing and coaching
Senior Director-level leaders (or equivalent). Demonstrated ability
to collaborate across specialized HR functions (e.g., Recruiting,
Compensation, Legal) to solve complex problems. Experience with
organizational design, change management, or workforce planning.
Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to
convey complex people data to executive stakeholders. At this time,

annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please
note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to
perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the
amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting.
Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed
upon number of hours to be regularly worked. McLean, VA: $120,800 -
$137,900 for Pr. Associate, HR Business Partner Richmond, VA:
$109,900 - $125,400 for Pr. Associate, HR Business Partner
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the
pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized
salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be
reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter. This role is also
eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which
may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on
