The National Systems Group serves as the technical adviser to the Intelligence Community and its mission partners involved in the collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence, including electronics programs, advanced technologies, ground and communications, imagery programs, and systems engineering and launch.

We are looking for a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer for a software-intensive ground system providing Space Domain Awareness for the Survivability and Resilience Office of the Advanced Technology Division. This office provides critical domain experience to assist the government in architecting, developing, and verifying resilient space and ground systems. In this role you will develop and sustain key information systems critical to the protection of national systems on orbit while identifying, elevating, and recommending new technologies and engineering techniques for current and future ground subsystems.

This position requires 100% on site work in Chantilly, VA

What You'll Be Doing

  • Provide technical leadership on program development and sustainment for a software-intensive ground system-of-system acquisition;
  • Identify impacts of Contractor-recommended software and architecture changes, and counsel the government program office on alternative solutions and implementations;
  • Lead teams of individual contributors on project execution and integration of technical analysis into high quality, unified products to enable innovation, mission success, and agility;
  • Define and lead studies; identify Aerospace and industry subject matter experts (SMEs), perform literature research; source or orchestrate data collection; perform analysis; develop reports; and present results on new software technologies, systems engineering techniques, or IT ops concepts ;
  • Organize and lead interdisciplinary teams in performing studies to research system, software engineering, and test best practices, lessons learned, and trends;
  • Plan and implement verification and validation approaches on large, complex, software-intensive ground software system-of-systems. This position requires 100% onsite work in the Chantilly, VA area

    What You Need to be Successful

    Minimum Requirements for Project Engineer
    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, science, engineering, mathematics, or a related technical field;
    • 8 years of experience in professional engineering experience with increasing responsibilities;
    • Ability to work in a team environment;
    • Experience supporting at least one ground system development;
    • Ability to communicate current technology, processes, and/or methods to the Aerospace team and customer;
    • Ability to coordinate technical activities of Aerospace teams;
    • Willing to travel [domestically/internationally] approx. 10%
    • This position requires a current and active TS/SCI security clearance and polygraph, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance. In addition to the above, Senior Project Engineer requires:
      • A minimum of twelve (12) years of professional engineering experience with increasing responsibilities;
      • Demonstrated ability to lead small teams;
      • Experience with advanced IT capabilities such as Agile Development and DevSecOps. How You Can Stand Out

        It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
        • Hands-on knowledge of Space Domain Awareness or Battle Management, Command and Control systems;
        • Hands-on knowledge of Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure.
        • Advanced degree in science, engineering, mathematics, or a related technical field;
        • Experience providing direct engineering support to Intelligence Community satellites or ground systems (or similarly complex system);
        • SAFe certification;
        • Prior experience supporting systems engineering activities in the IC;
        • Familiarity with government acquisition policies and procedures;
        • Knowledge and understanding of the traditional systems engineering Vee;
        • Demonstrated ability to work asynchronously with worldwide remote team members;
