Job Description:

HarmonyTech is seeking a Sr. QA Tester with hands-on software testing experience. The Sr. QA Tester will collaborate closely with the QA Team and other development staff, to deliver solutions that meet or exceed client expectations. This candidate must posses knowledge of different test techniques and practical experience in their proper application. They must understand database principles with experience in working with data for purposes of analysis, trouble-shooting, and testing validation. The candidate also should have knowledge writing SQL statements to extract test data to perform validation on complex report calculations and that back-end data is correctly represented.Position is located in Herndon VA, requires public trust clearance, and US citizenship.Working as a member of the project team in support of systems and software testing, specific responsibilities include:Creating and executing test plans, test scripts and test casesEstimating and developing the testing strategiesTesting and reviewing QA ArtifactsSupporting users during user acceptance testingPerforming testing for all releases, including compliance / security patching and hardware / software upgrades (some weekend work is to be expected).Planning and supporting testing for disaster recovery testingProvide manual testing for the systemTest applications for correctness, reliability, consistency, and ease of use.Perform hands-on testing, execute test cases and scripts independently and in a team environment.Perform exploratory testingPerform backend testingCreate detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases.Estimate, prioritize, plan, and coordinate testing activities.Tracking new requirements for projectPerform all other duties, responsibilities, and/or position requirements as assigned.Provide high through-put, high quality testing without missing deadlines.Analyze test requirements (implicit and explicit), failure modes, quality factors and specifications to develop quality tests and procedures.Provide consistent and clear status in verbal and written communications with constituentsProvide recommendations to improve the development process (technical and non-technical)Write clear and concise defect reports for resolution in a timely manner following a predefined templateEscalate issues that may affect project deliverable or quality as neededPerform all other duties, responsibilities, and/or position requirements as assigned.Represent the QA team in meetings when necessaryAnalyzes risks and mitigation to manage those risksRequiredRelevant testing experience 4-6 yearsBachelor's Degree in computer science or related fieldExperience in creating and executing test scripts and performing QA functions for custom application development projects.Clear communicator (written and verbal) - to ensure ability to write test plans and test cases. To communicate bugs to developers and other stakeholdersCreative solving of technical problems - to ensure the ability translate technical requirements test plansAbility to focus on deadlines and deliverables - ensures the ability to find the bad defects and bugs quicklyAbility to think abstract - to ensure ability to not conform to the norm. Norms do not find bugs quickly.Functional/Technical SkillsExperiences in Quality Management Software and ProcessesKnowledge and experience in technical aspects of software solution being testedBusiness process understandingDesiredExperience with Agile testingExperience creating and maintaining comprehensive and concise documentationExperience with back-end testing, accessing, and manipulating databases using SQL a plusExperience with Web Services (Soap, Rest) testing using tools such as SoapUI and Fiddler a plusStrong working knowledge of the desktop/web applicationsExcellent problem solving, and analytical skills, with aptitude for learning and creativityAbility to think outside the box and work independently with little supervision and in a team environmentProven ability to adapt and support changing prioritiesAbout HarmonyTechWe have been delivering information technology services and solutions across the Federal government and commercial clients for over a decade.
