Space Vehicle Department supports the design and acquisition of a
complex national security electro-optical spacecraft. We are
looking for a space vehicle hardware development project leader to
coordinate electrical and electronics engineering support for the
manufacture, integration, test, and anomaly resolution for this
high priority space system. Key Functions Lead and coordinate
Aerospace activities across a broad spectrum of technical areas as
required to support the design, manufacture, integration, and test
of space vehicle electronics and communications systems Lead teams
to conduct failure reviews, support environmental testing, support
requirements sell-off, and perform anomaly resolution support for
space vehicle electronics and communications systems Effectively
select and guide appropriate engineering matrix resources to
address these tasks and provide independent verification and
validation efforts by leveraging personal knowledge and the
expertise of supporting subject matter experts Provide integrated
advice based on these efforts to the spacecraft bus and payload
customer leads and your Aerospace peers Generate periodic written
reports and presentations to customer and Aerospace management
Support close and frequent interaction with government customer,
SETA, and contractor personnel This position is based in Chantilly,
VA. Travel to other Aerospace and contractor facilities through
CONUS will be required at least one week per month. Required For
the Space Vehicle Hardware Development Leader position, the
following is required: Bachelor s degree in Electrical, Mechanical,
or Aerospace Engineering or a closely related field A minimum of 8
years of relevant experience A background in one or more of the
following: electronics or communications subsystem design, build,
assembly, integration and test and/or hardware anomaly resolution.
Effective systems engineering and analysis skills to identify
problems, develop solutions and assess risk Ability to lead and
coordinate the activities of task teams comprised of members with
diverse technical backgrounds Must show initiative and leadership
and require minimal management oversight. Ability to work closely
and cooperatively with contractor personnel. Excellent oral and
written communication skills. This position requires the ability to
have and maintain a current and active TS/SSBI/SCI security
clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship
is required to obtain a security clearance. In addition to the
above the following is required for the Senior Space Vehicle
Hardware Development Leader: A minimum of 12 years of relevant
experience A background in two or more of the following:
electronics or communications subsystem design, build, assembly,
integration and test and/or hardware anomaly resolution. Strong
systems engineering and analysis skills to identify problems,
develop solutions and assess risk Knowledge of the development and
independent verification and validation of complex space systems
hardware Experience leading teams in the development and
independent verification and validation of complex space systems
hardware Preferred Advanced degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or
Aerospace Engineering or a closely related field Prior experience
providing direct engineering support to the development of space
hardware Prior experience supporting the design phase of a program
leading up to PDR and CDR Experience supporting to the
manufacturing and test of spacecraft hardware (especially
electronics and communications equipment). Any experience
supporting space vehicle assembly, test, and launch operations or
