seeking an Outreach and Communications Specialist for their
Chantilly, VA location to support communications, outreach, and
training activities. The position will primarily support federal
government clients on climate change and other environmental
programs; support may also be provided for state agencies and
private-sector clients as needed. The position involves
collaborating with multiple project teams to perform a wide range
of activities, including: assisting the preparation of outreach
products and tools; supporting preparations for and conduct of
virtual meetings and in-person trainings; researching technical
issues and preparing written products for target audiences (e.g.,
fact sheets, reports, presentations, content for listserv messages,
web pages, and social media accounts); and providing general
assistance and other quick turnaround support to meet project
needs. This position provides opportunities for professional growth
and increasing levels of responsibility and
advancement.Qualifications:+ 0-2 years of experience is expected
for this entry-level position.+ Outreach and communications
experience is desired, whether through coursework or on-the-job
experience.+ Familiarity with federal climate change or other
environmental programs and concepts is a plus.+ Must be able to
work collaboratively in a team environment; candidate should be
self-motivated and be able to take directions and work
independently as needed to complete tasks.+ Must be able to work
with clients, subject matter experts, and project team members to
create outreach materials in a variety of formats (e.g.,
presentations, promotional flyers, listserv messages, formal
correspondence, social media posts, webpage content, fact sheets,
training materials, technical reports, etc.).+ Experience
conducting virtual and in-person meetings is a plus.Skills for the
ideal candidate include:+ Must be fluent in English and able to
work collaboratively in a team environment.+ Strong verbal and
written communication skills are required; candidates will be asked
to provide examples of communications and/or training products they
have written.+ Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and
ability to follow through consistently are required. + Must be able
to manage time well and work on multiple concurrent tasks. + Must
be proficient in Microsoft Office software.Education and
Certifications:Bachelor's degree in relevant fieldPhysical
Demands:Candidate must be able to sit or stand at a desk/computer
in an office environment for office-based tasks.Work
Environment:Primarily an office work environment with flexibility
for remote/at home work arrangements. Potential for domestic and
