MITRE's N413 Space Department integrates technology and domain expertise to deliver solutions across organizations that develop, deploy, and operate spaceborne capabilities. We help ensure overhead users get the right data at the right place and time to deliver the mission. We are seeking highly-motivated, adaptive, and self-directed Systems Engineers with an active Top Secret clearance with SCI, that possess or are willing to obtain a polygraph, to provide Systems Engineering thought leadership and problem solving expertise to our sponsor and their national security mission. As a Space Department Systems Engineer, you will leverage and grow your expertise to provide technical support and strategic guidance across a variety of system engineering development lifecycles, through the design, implementation, and integration of enterprise systems and system-of-systems for MITRE's national space sponsor. The position requires full time on-site presence in Chantilly VA..Job Responsibilities : + Provide SE support based on knowledge, experience and education with application to the Space domain.+ Contribute to teams with expertise in one or more of the following areas: Systems Engineering, requirements engineering, test and evaluation, system design, system life-cycle management, quality management, IT Modernization and Digital transformation roadmap and process analysis and improvement. + Provide technical assistance to Analysis of Alternatives (AoAs), Course of Actions (CoAs), Trade Studies, Industry IT Best Practices and Engineering Assessments, tailored to the sponsor's mission, operating environment, and challenges.+ Provide technical support to the sponsor in strategic technical planning, project management, performance engineering, risk management and interface design.+ Interface with technical experts and leaders across the sponsor and MITRE organizations and build trusted relationships.+ Collaborate and participate in activities to ensure knowledge creation/sharing and integration within and across work programs.Required Qualifications :+ Active Top Secret clearance with SCI and possess or be willing to obtain a polygraph.+ Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or related technical field such as engineering, physics, mathematics, operations research, engineering management, computer science, or related STEM program.+ 2 years of experience working in government or industry in relevant work areas including: DoD/IC Acquisition Process, Requirements Process, PPBES Process or systems engineering of large complex System of Systems, or Service Oriented Architecture environments residing in cloud, on premise, or hybrid infrastructures.+ Strong foundation in SE principals and experience across the SE lifecycle.+ Strong communication and engagement skills to be able to proactively work across MITRE, government and contractor teams.+ Strong organizational and time management skills.+ Ability to work independently to learn new technologies, techniques, processes, software languages, platforms, and systems.+ Expertise to provide unbiased advice, formulate courses of action, analyze programs, and make recommendations across a wide spectrum of issuesPreferred Qualifications :+ TS/SCI with Polygraph+ Skills in performance management, requirements analysis, integration and test, and technology transition to operations.+ Experience with one or more of the following:+ Agile Methodologies.+ Data Science, Analytics and/or Simulation.+ DevOps.+ Machine Learning and/or Artificial Intelligence.+ Model Based Systems Engineering.+ Operations Research.+ Science & Technology (S) capability assessments, trade studies, or analysis of alternatives.+ Software development.+ Knowledge of national overhead systems. + Knowledge in one or more of the intelligence disciplines (GEOINT, SIGINT, MASINT, etc.).+ Prior experience in the US Intelligence, Space, or Defense Community.
