motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior Principal System
Engineer to join our team in Chantilly, VA.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Support the engineering and development of LAN/WAN-based and
remote user solutions, upgrades, and additions.
- Travel to sites and perform logistical activities to include
site surveys, hardware/software install, remove hardware, check
hardware for shipment, etc.
- Work alongside of Deployment Engineer to develop project
schedules for tracking customer deployments.
- Work with external vendors and internal procurement team to
obtain required materials as well as support budget analysis.
- Provide SME input to the customer and PM in support of
project.
- Integrate systems with Windows and Linux as it applies to core
service dependencies
- Design, deployment, testing, certification, patching,
addressing interoperability issues of all VMware components to
include the hypervisor, vSphere, NSX, vRealize Suite, and Site
Recovery Manager
- Assure continuity of design features from concept to
implementation.
- Research new technologies for possible inclusion into the
reference architecture that includes leading an analysis of
alternatives, developing use cases, and presenting findings.
- Work closely with security professionals to achieve and
maintain security requirements.
- Ensure system design is properly documented and assist with
technology transfer of the solution to the implementers.
- Demonstrate the ability to make decisions independently,
resolve important questions, plan, and coordinate work.
- Support technology evaluations, participation at meetings,
coordination with related Government and performer organizations,
program planning, background research, meeting preparation, and
presentation production.
- Provide inputs to the PM, assisting in responses to
internal/external inquiries related to the project.
- Act as the SME in areas that are not primarily within their
technical domain but are pertinent to the new concepts/initiatives
the project may be pursuing.
- Participate in technical reviews of these activities and assist
with technical evaluation and independent assessments of the
concepts and related technologies.
- Prepare briefings, reports, and other related
documentation/data to support the development and approval of these
activities.
Basic Qualifications:
- B.S. Degree or higher in Computer Science or similar
Engineering discipline
- 10+ years for experience
- Extensive experience with MS Office, Project, Excel, Word,
Visio, and PowerPoint
- Strong written and oral communication skills, detail oriented,
strong organizational skills
- Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize
responsibilities
- Excellent attention to details and diligent adherence to
deadlines and deliverables
- A high-level performer with the ability to be proactive and
respond rapidly to changing conditions in a fast-paced
environment
- Strong Expertise with NSX / VMware and SolarWinds will be
highly desired / relevant
- Must possess DoD 8570 IAT-II certification
Security Clearance Requirements:
- TS/SCI adjudicated in last 6 years. Willingness to submit for
CI Polygraph.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.
- Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access
file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity
machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer
printer.
- Often positions self to maintain computers in the lab,
including under the desks and in the server closet.
- Frequently communicates with co-workers, management and
customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able
to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- May be asked to move Audio/Visual or Computer equipment
- Must be able to lift to shoulder height and move items, like
servers, computers, racks, up to and over 25 pounds with varying
dimensions.
