Job SummaryThe Systems Engineering Division (SED) provides
unmatched experience in systems engineering to the U.S. government
and to numerous public and private agencies, universities,
nonprofit organizations, consortia, and commercial companies
involved in the advanced application of space technology. From
systems architecture development to system analysis and
optimization, astrodynamics, orbital debris, navigation, failure
analysis, mission assurance, cost and schedule assessment, and
economic market analysis, SED exploits an incredibly broad array of
engineering and business disciplines against a diverse and dynamic
portfolio of programs and national challenges.The Modeling and
Simulation Computing Department (MSCD) consists of a team dedicated
to ground-breaking software solutions and capabilities for
government and commercial customer needs. We enable detailed and
complex modeling, analysis, optimization, and visualization of
satellite orbits, system architectures, and engineering
trade-spaces to provide customer decision support for the future of
space.Work Model:Hybrid: This position will be a hybrid work model
and offer partially remote with some onsite work required in El
Segundo, CA or Chantilly, VAWhat You'll Be Doing:
- Work closely with Aerospace technical staff to develop and
mature a range of modeling and simulation software tools within the
sub-division to support analysis in areas such as astrodynamics,
navigation, communication, and optimization.
- Interact directly with local Aerospace personnel and
collaborate with Aerospace personnel in other locations.
- Engage with software users and customers to refine capability
requirements
- Apply modern development practices in areas including rapid
prototyping, parallel computing, cloud computing, and
containerizationWhat You Need to be SuccessfulMinimum Requirements:
- Enrolled full time in a bachelor's degree program in computer
science, aerospace engineering, computer engineering, mechanical
engineering, systems engineering, mathematics, or other related
disciplines from an accredited school
- Proficiency in one or more of the department's core computer
languages (e.g., Fortran, C++, Python, Matlab, etc.)
- Experience in implementing and optimizing modern software for
deployment on Windows and Linux platforms
- The ability to obtain a US Government Clearance (US Citizenship
required)How You Can Stand OutIt would be impressive if you have
one or more of these:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering,
mathematics, or other STEM-related discipline from an accredited
school and pursuing an advanced degree
- Academic or professional experience working as a member of a
technical team
- Academic or professional experience in space-related modeling,
simulation, and analysis
- Academic or professional experience in modern software
development, integration, and testing practices
- Current DoD or SCI security clearance
- Extensive experience in implementing and optimizing modern
software for deployment on Windows and Linux platformsTranscripts
