The National Systems Group serves as the technical advisor to the
Intelligence Community and its mission partners involved in the
collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence,
including electronics programs, advanced technologies, ground and
communications, imagery programs, and systems engineering and
launch.The Ground and Communications Division is looking for a
Communications Systems Engineer (Sr. Project Engineer/Project
Engineer) to define and advance new concepts to deliver innovative
applications to existing and future space and ground systems. As a
full-time on-site team member at the customer location, you will
work closely with Government, SETA, and other FFRDC personnel on
numerous projects across a variety of technical fields. You will
lead the Aerospace efforts with support from the Aerospace
Engineering matrix to evaluate, develop, and test complex solutions
to bring the novel applications to operations.This position
requires 100% on site work in Chantilly, VAWhat You'll Be Doing
- Facilitate studies on advanced communication applications to
existing and future space and ground systems.
- Guide the analysis, modeling & simulation, and prototyping with
domain experts to supply the information for government decision
making.
- Function as the Aerospace point of contact to evaluate
concepts, architectures, requirements, and interfaces for risks and
provide course of action recommendations.
- Represent Aerospace at program office and technical exchange
meetings.
- Prepare and review Aerospace technical reports and briefing
materials in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with the Government program office representatives,
SETA and other FFRDC staff, and contractor personnel.
What You Need to be SuccessfulMinimum Requirements for the Project
Engineer:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Systems
Engineering, Math or related technical area.
- 8 years of progressively more responsible engineering
experience
- Experience providing analysis of space and ground communication
systems.
- Ability to effectively manage work on multiple tasks.
- Willing to travel domestically 5%.
- This position requires a current and active TS/SCI security
clearance and polygraph, which is issued by the US government. U.S
citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.In addition
to the above, the Sr. Project Engineer position will require:
- 12 years of progressively more responsible engineering
experience
- Experience supporting analysis of space and ground
communication systems.
- Experience with advanced communication applications to existing
and future space and ground systems.
- Experience working with an Engineering Matrix or using reach
back engineering support

- Ability to contribute to an analysis, modeling & simulation, or
design of space and ground communication systems.
- Experience testing prototypes and new technology insertions for
space systems.
- Understanding of the Aerospace engineering matrix or previous
experience building a study team in a functional matrix
organization.
- Proven experience interacting with and briefing government
personnel across program offices, SETA and FFRDC staff, and
