The Vehicle Engineers are responsible for ensuring bus and payload state-of-health in support of mission execution. -- Knowledge: Applies extensive job practices, techniques, standards, principles, theories, and concepts. Has full knowledge of other related disciplines. Recognized as a job expert within the department/organization. Problem Solving: Provides technical solutions to complex problems that require ingenuity and creativity. Discretion: Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Completed work is reviewed for desired results from a relatively long-term perspective. Impact: Guides the successful completion of aspects of major programs and may function in a project leadership role. Erroneous decisions or recommendations may result in failure to achieve major organizational objectives. Liaison: Represents the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects. Interacts with senior external personnel. -- Position Responsibilities-- Telemetry review, trending, and analysis Operational documentation creation, modification, and review Performing analysis and studies in response to customer needs Planning, coordinating, executing, and providing post-activity analysis for routine vehicle activities (i.e. orbit/attitude adjusts, eclipse season, payload calibrations, etc.); Developing, testing, and implementing operational workarounds with factory support; Planning, coordinating, and providing execution support to large system activities that involve vehicle; Supporting customer meetings and processes; Providing 24x7x365 vehicle anomaly response and resolution; Provide anomaly process leadership through on-call support to the Anomaly POC rotation. -- Boeing is the world's largest aerospace company and leading manufacturer of commercial airplanes and defense, space and security systems. Qualifications Basic (Required) Experience: This position requires a current Top Secret clearance with SCI. A CounterIntelligence Polygraph must be completed and adjudicated prior to start. Desired Experience: 2 years or more of space vehicle experience in operations, test, development, and/or design Expertise in one or more space vehicle subsystem (ACS, Propulsion, EPS, Orbit Analysis, T&C, RF) Experience working with government customers Experience working at government facilitiesTypical Education/Experience: Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
