REQ#: 2019-65628Job DescriptionSeeking an individual to fill a position as a System and Application monitoring analyst on our team. Individual will utilize knowledge and experience to monitor systems and applications, tune monitoring tools, deploy new technologies as well as design, install, configuring, maintain and perform system integration testing and troubleshooting of server operating systems, related utilities and hardware. Individual will monitor system activities and fine tune system parameters and configurations to optimize performance and ensure security of systems. They perform capacity analysis, monitor and control usage of disk space.Essential Responsibilities include the following:Manage monitoring systems to include HP OMi, HP SA, HP NNM, MS SCOMProduce metric reports and capacity planning reports as needed to support the Windows environmentsPerform regular system tuning and performance monitoringAssist with security architecture and monitoringEvaluate and recommend new technology upgrades; evaluate new software and hardware to determine usefulness and compatibility with existing software/hardwareEnsure all Windows based servers are adhering to change control and standard policiesWorking with customers both internal and external to troubleshoot incidentsMaintaining documentation and diagrams regarding the Windows environmentsAssist in planning/implementing installation and Disaster Recovery for hosted applicationsCoordinate and participate in key process improvements as they relate to the client/server and core infrastructure services environmentParticipate in root cause analysis efforts and problem investigation, as requiredManage and maintain MS Server environments 2008/2012/2016 including enterprise directory services, DNS, IIS, MS Communicator and Lync/ SKYPE.Occasionally leads technical teams as needed toward meeting project objectivesWorks closely with key project team members such as; project managers, business analyst, technical leads, and business usersIdentify potential trends in performance gaps and recommend modifications to the standardized work documents by using process improvement principlesDesign and implement system resource plans for upcoming applicationsExercises independent judgement and decision making.Participates in special projects as requiredEducationBA/BS in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.Qualifications5+ years of directly related experience in systems administration and analysis in support of government intelligence customerSKILLSStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to facilitate and lead complex discussions in a mixed technical and business team environmentMust be able to suggest plans to integrate new and existing systemsMust be self-directed and able to work effectively in a diverse team environment with little to no direct supervisionStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsAbility and desire to take ownership of tasks and responsibilities KNOWLEDGEKnowledge and experience related to IT systems and technologies.Knowledge of common industry hardware, operating systems, monitoring software, tools and utilities, and platforms, in addition to free and open source tools.Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, e.g., word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, data base, project planning.Knowledge of SDLC and PMO methodologies.Must understand technical problems and solutions in relation to current and future business environments.Knowledge of storage infrastructure hardware and/or software installation, configuration and maintenance (i.e. firewalls, routers, switches, operating systems, administration/monitoring tools)Required Qualifications:Experience in IT industry with experience in Windows Server administration; Window 2008 & 2012 with Active Directory Services (AD, DNS, DHCP), MS Clustering, RDP and MS Terminal Server 2008/2012 and Lync.Hands on Experience in System Monitoring utilizing HP tool suite and or MS SCOMHands on Experience in managing / supporting VMWARE servers (hosts and guests)IT Industry: 7 years Microsoft Office: 5 yearsMicrosoft Windows Server: 5 yearsSDLC: 5 Years (Desired)Candidate must possess an appropriate and current DoD Information Assurance (IA) Certification to be considered for employment; either valid CompTIA Security+ CE, Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)-Security. CompTIA Security+ CE Certification is the preferred certification. In addition, candidate must attain the required DoD 8570 Computing Environment (CE) Training within six (6) months of Hire Date.As part of your role/function on the program, you will be granted privileged user access. Privileged Users are subject to greater scrutiny as a direct result of the significant responsibilities placed upon them. Please be aware that because of these critical duties, you will be subject to additional IT system monitoring, and supervisory evaluation to ensure continuous adherence to Privileged User processes and procedures.
